Harrington & Laws batting efforts in vain as Bradford on Avon fall short on bowling discipline.

13 Jul 2013

Bradford on Avon Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat.Solid batting by Matthew Harrington(55),a dashing 35 from Ian Pinchen,a dogged 23 by Nick Coles and an aggressive knock by Tony Laws (48 off 48 balls) and a final onslaught from Jon Moss who was undefeated on 20 helped the home side to a credible 214 for 5 at tea.The Nalgo reply started aggressively led by Hendy Alleyne and skipper Prashant Joshi who departed early after being dealt a blow from a hostile Kegan Smart courtesy of a catch by Jon Moss off the bowling of Matthew Harrington. None of the other batsman looked settled at any point. Rufus Lakin bowled well to pick up 3 wickets for 35, however Bradford will rue ill disciplined bowling again as extras were the second best score of the Nalgo innings with 35 conceded. A comedy of errors occured when Imran Dastagir the last Nalgo main batsman slipped in mid run, flat on his back and stranded a near certain run out chance was missed and with it the match as some power hitting saw Nalgo home with 4.2 overs to spare.A day of missed opportunity for the home side.
