After relaunching their junior section in 2013, Bradford On Avon CC have enjoyed great success in a very short space of time!

From a starting point of zero last winter, the club now has 35 junior members regularly attending coaching on Friday evenings. These members are across the under 9 and under 11 age categories and the club has been very proactive in ensuring that these two age groups are entered in to competitive matches. The under 9s have been playing regularly in the Wiltshire Youth League Kwik Cricket festivals whereas the under 11s have participated in the Bath and District Youth League, winning their first match recently.

To support the relaunch of the junior section, Bradford On Avon CC invested heavily last winter in funding coaches to go through ECB coaching qualifications. This has really helped the club to give the junior section the impetus that it needs but they are still on the lookout for more coaches going in to the 2014 season.

Chance to Shine has also played an important role in attracting new members with the club sending coaches in to several local primary schools to help introduce cricket and promote the opportunity of joining Bradford On Avon CC. This has proved particularly successful in Fitzmaurice Primary School where 20 new members have joined from.

As if launching the junior section wasn't enough, Bradford On Avon CC have also worked towards achieving Clubmark accreditation during the 2013 season. Clubmark is the accreditation that recognises clubs that run a safe, effective and child friendly junior section and involves completing an evidence file and then being audited by Clubmark officers during a site visit at one of the junior coaching evenings. The club has already completed its evidence file and is now just waiting on the site visit to take place.

All in all it has been a hugely successful start for the junior section at Bradford On Avon CC. The club will still be training unil Friday 26th July and will also be confirming plans for a winter training programme shortly.
