Early League leaders Urchfont won the toss and inserted Bradford into bat in what were favourable bowling conditions and the opening pair of Edwards(16)& Pinchen(15) put on 31 in the first 9 overs when Edwards was out LBW to J.Dorgan (3-33).Burrows departed for 0 from a rising delivery to the same bowler in the 11th over, Pinchen then played around a straight one from Bills,Gerrish looked composed and after driving Dorgan for a classy four was yorked the next ball for 9,Bradford 4 wickets down for 42 off 15 overs. Beale dug in to rebuild only to be LBW to off spinner T.Dorgan shortly after the drinks break with the score on 72 for 5,Laws after a promising start departed in the next over Bradford 72 for 6. A late order recovery ensued in the guise of James Pike(21)making a welcome return,Guy Tadman(26) and Keegan Smart(24 not out)enabling Bradford to finish the innings at 163 all out,however not using up the full quota of overs being dismissed in 40.5 overs. Urchfont started their innings in a blaze of boundaries only for Tony Laws to strike back, bowling Simon in his first over and in his next over secured a double wicket maiden courtesy of catches from Beale & Edwards,Urchfont 22 for 3 off 4 overs. V.Williams(72 with 9 fours & 3 Sixes)Urchfont's South African stayed composed throughout and played a match winning innings, even when Urchfont lost a spate of quick wickets on the introduction of Rufus Lakin(2 for 13), a solid innings from J.Dorgan(not out 44)granted Williams the perfect partner to take Urchfont home ableit some minor scares with Bradford spilling a few difficult catches. In brief a poor fielding & bowling display from the home side with over 70% of the Urchfont total scored in boundaries and six batsman getting starts and failing to progress and one man V.Williams who orchestrated a victory for Urchfont.Early days though as this 2013 Surridge Wiltshire Division One is going to have many twists and turns as the story unfolds.
