Bradford on Avon Cricket Club First Eleven v Potterne 3 on Sat 15 Jun 2019 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won by 8 wkts
Match report
BoA won by 8 wickets. Having won the toss BoA elected to bowl on a track that was damp and having been used previously. Given the very wet weather throughout the week, the pitch played much better than expected. The weather forecast for Saturday afternoon was of possible showers throughout, and yet somehow we had none and even had some sunshine at times.
Potterne got off to a fairly good start with BoA bowlers struggling to find the right lengths straight away and the bowlers were rotated regularly in search of wickets and some control. At 62-2 off 21 overs the game was nicely poised with newbie Bertie Kennedy bowling well. The introduction of seamer Matty Harrington saw a change in BoA fortunes with him taking 5-14 off 7 and leggie Rufus Lakin taking 3-11 off 3.1 and Potterne losing it's last 7 wickets for just 18 runs in 7 overs! The BoA catching was exemplary with assured catches coming from Bertie 'Buckets' Kennedy, Paul Vooght, Tow Wade and Matty 'small hands' Harrington.
In reply, BoA openers weathered the initial storm as Potterne attempted to take back the game. Matt Harrington was bowled for 18 resulting from an uncharacteristic attempted slog and Chris Thompson making a measured 28 before hitting a very wide long hop to point. Tony Burrows and Lewis Green quickly wrapped up the game with 20 overs to spare.
As always a massive thanks to scorer Angie Tadman and umpire Richard Smith.
Next week we entertain Marshfield at home. #GoGudgeons.
