Heytesbury & Sutton Veny v Bradford on Avon Cricket Club First Eleven on Sat 25 May 2019 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
Having won the toss again (tails never fails!) for the second time in 2 weeks, H&SV were asked to bat first on a dry track and on a nice pleasant day.
All the bowlers bowled well but it was the fielding and catching that marked out this performance with some sharp running catches being taken by Johnson, Vooght and Green. Chris Thompson's 2 catches behind the stumps are becoming a regular occurrence but one of these was taken diving to his right one handed. Joe Milton took a solid catch at cover and Dean "Come on BIrdy" Bird had to run 5 yards to collect a looping dolly which he managed to make look difficult.
In reply Thompson was destructive to anything short and had reached 47 before hitting a low drive into the hands of the LA spinner Read. The partnership was worth 65 runs with Harrington looking snail-like compared to his partner. Harrington was joined by Johnson who was keen to not run himself out for the 3rd time in 3 innings. Both continue to score freely reaching the required totals with several 4s and few risks.
This was probably our best performance so far with the ball and long may it continue!!!
