Erlestoke v Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Second Eleven on Sat 13 May 2017 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Lost by 7 wickets
Match report
After a great winning start to the season a depleted Bradford on Avon team travelled to Erlestoke with missing several key players and only managing nine in total. After winning the toss Bradford elected to bat and after losing Graham Long and Simon Richards early, opener Richard Smith and debutant Will Johnson went about recovering the innings. Richard eventually fell for a free flowing 23 and when captain Moss came and went another debutant stepped up. Dan Baber scored an impressive 41 on debut and Johnson went on to make a maiden 50 for the club. The shortened tail didn't wag this time and Bradford were all out for 163.
In reply Erlestoke went about their business quickly on a wonderful batting track. Only fielding with nine men meant Bradford haemorrhaged runs on a regular basis and could not maintain any pressure on the batsman. Despite a couple of wickets from veteran Keith Moss and a great caught and bowled from the younger Moss, Erlestoke got to the target with ease in only 23 overs with Erlestoke captain M Barton top-scoring with 71.
The 2s return home to Culver close next week to try and get back to winning ways against Devizes 2s.
