Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Lost By 56 Runs

Match report A very disappointing start to the season for Bradford on Avon. Swindon Nalgo won the toss and batted first and were soon under pressure with opening bowlers Kit Chapman and Matthew Harrington reducing the visitors to 12-3 after 5 overs. However, rebuilding the innings was assisted by numerous dropped catches from the home fielders. A heavy rain interruption with the score on 124-4 after 32 overs meant an early tea and the possibility of an abandoned game. However with the cooperation of the umpires, the match restarted and the Nalgo innings was completed at 201 all out from 43.2 overs. Kit Chapman taking 5-35 from 8.2 overs and the main run scorers Dr Awaiz with a hard hitting 79* and Subhanker 57.
Bradford on Avon were chasing 126 to win from 28 overs and got off to a solid start with openers Ian Pinchen and Matthew Harrington putting on 36 runs for the first wicket (10 overs). Pinchen fell for 26 which sparked a catastrophic collapse of the home teams batting. Great catching and bowling and a lively pitch resulted in the home side being skittled for just 70 runs, 10 wickets falling for just 34 runs in 10 overs. Away skipper Sarfraz Khan taking 7 wickets for 11 runs in just 5 overs. The Nalgo catching was superb with the wicket keeper accounting for 7 catches alone. The match was played in great cricketing spirit.
