Burbage & Easton Royal 3 v Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Second Eleven on Sat 08 Aug 2015 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets
Match report
A wonderful day for the second team. Up against it from the start with a late drop out so we travel to Burbage with 10. We arrive at the ground to discover a very large oak tree in the centre of the ground 15 yards from the artificial wicket. After discovering we had 10 men Umpire Dave Denness steps up and helps out in the field.
Inserting the Burbage into bat on a hot day, Burbage started well a constant flow of runs. This continued until the 20th over where BOA started to get some control back within the game. A good spell of bowling from both Richard Smith and Fuller. A late flourish by Burbage took them to well made 241 off their 45 overs.
BOA reply got off to a flyer with Graham Long scoring 14 from the first over. When Long fell New boy Kumar Satheesh continued Longs vain. Satheesh looked assured in defence and attack. It was only the pace of Postlethwaite that proved to be his un doing when Kumar lost his off stump.
Burrows joined Moss at the crease and after a shaky start started to play himself in Moss and Burrows put on a well made 59 before Moss fell on the 23rd over for 15. BOA 107-3. Rich Fuller joined Burrows at just the right time of the innings. Fuller and Burrows took the attack to Burbage both with some lusty hitting Fuller hitting 3 sixes on his way to 53 - Burrows was finially bowled for 83 with his team needing 10 runs to win. With the scores tied BOA winning run came from Fuller hitting the big old oak tree with local rules stated 1 run dead ball.
