Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Second Eleven v Corsham 4 on Sat 23 May 2015 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won by 121 Runs
Match report
After loosing the toss, Bradford On Avon 2s were put in to bat on a glorious summers day. Facing a young Corsham 4ths side, BOAs top order were tested from the off. Veteran opening batsman Graham Long falling in the first over to the promising J.Stanley for 4. Oscar Travers came and went in Stanley's next over for 0. Matt Goodall and skipper Tony Burrows started to rebuild. Goodall starting to see some form with a flourish of fours (4 in 4 balls) before a spectacular catch by R.Shillaker was Goodalls downfall. This bought Danny Hall to the crease and along with Burrows they knuckled down to re-erect BOAs innings. Patience was the key, and both batsman showed this in abundance. The pair put on an important 66 runs before Burrows was caught by Corsham captain S.Fleming. This was fortuitous timing as it bought Adrian Kesby to the crease at just the right moment in the game. Kesby and Hall sensed blood and took the attack to Corsham. A procession of 4s and 6s followed. Both showing incredible timing throughout. Kesbys 50 came off just 29 balls. Before he was dismissed caught behind. Hall continued in similar vain but was caught by Shillaker for a well made 66. Hugo Allen & Dave Fox pushed BOA over the 200 mark with some good running and solid hitting. They were supported by cameos from Dan Tadman & Keith Moss which cemented BOAs successful innings of 254-9 from 45 overs.
Corsham's innings was given a helping hand by some wayward bowling at the start by opener D.Fox - Fox struggled with the slope. With the "Slow & Unpredictable" Danny Hall trundling in from the other end. 2 bowling changes later and BOA have their first wicket. With C.Sandell falling for just 6. Fox now bowling against the slope, started to find his line and length and was rewarded with a very sharp caught and bowled chance taking the prize wicket of the in form R.Shillaker for just 17. M.Goodall took 2 wickets in his first spell and bowled very well showing good control throughout. K.Moss came out with excellent figures of 8-3-14-3 who bowled to his field, with some good catches held. Corsham's stubborn defence was proving harder to penetrate, BOA needing just 1 wicket for maximum bowling points kept created chances however did not take them, dropping 3 catches off the bowling of A.Kesby. Corhsam managed to bat the 45 overs reaching 133-9
