Chippenham 3 v Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Second Eleven on Sat 09 May 2015 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won By 4 Wickets

Match report After winning the toss and putting Chippenham 3s into bat, Bradford on Avon bowled well in favourable conditions with a very strong wind. Restricting the home team to 7 runs for the first 5 overs. Some tight bowling from both BOA opening bowlers built the pressure on the batting side and in turn created a run out opportunity of which Hugo Allen took. As Chippenham started to rebuild good line and length bowling was the order of the day on a track that offered some assistance to the bowler. A spell of patient bowling by the BOA opening pair, Dave Fox taking a sharp caught and bowled chance in the 11th over and Matt Goodall bowling younger Olly Slade their reward. Chippenham batted well on a wicket which was becoming harder to bat on. R Merryweather & J Neale batted well scoring 22 & 38 respectfully. After they were dismissed. Wickets fell at regular intervals, BOA taking their chances when they came. Pick of which was Dan Tadmans excellent catch at mid off from a ball that was hit very hard by evergreen all rounder M Slade. Chippenham dismissed for 112 after just 35.3 overs. With conditions now well and truly with the bowling team BOAs reply got off to a slow start. However both openers showed some good determination, Graham Long fell in the 15th over making 12 from 50 balls. Matt Goodall followed soon after for 15 from 58 balls. Chippenham bowled very well, opening bowler M Slade unlucky not to pick up a wicket from his 5 overs as well as spin bowler R Humphreys finished wicket less however deserved more. When David Fox was dismissed for a first ball duck, BOA were 42 for 3 at drinks. Skipper Tony Burrows and Kevin Roberts started to get the innings going with some boundaries early on and were knocking the ball around well picking up the singles when possible. However batting was getting increasingly harder BOA got to 85 when Burrows fell to a good one handed catch by J Neale for 24. Roberts continted to play well until he was dismissed for 24. BOA crawl to the finishing line was getting tense. As the final over was about to be bowled BOA needed 8 runs to win or 7 to tie. It was left to welshman Matt John and Dean Bird to get BOA over the line. 7 runs from the first 3 balls of the final which meant the scores were tied. Needing just won to secure victory confusion struck. While the bowler was running in a some Chippenham fielder (quite rightly) were checking the score, while doing so Matt John hit the winning runs with a wonderful straight drive. However in the interests of fair play we insisted that the ball was to be called dead and to ball the ball again. However Matt John showed great composure and dispatched the following ball for a 4 meaning BOA crossed the line with 2 balls to spare and winning by 4 wickets.
