Bradford on Avon Cricket Club First Eleven v Lacock on Sat 04 Jul 2015 at 13:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Lost By 4 Wickets
Match report
Bradford on Avon were in deep trouble at home to Lacock on Saturday. Staring in the face of a swift defeat at 40-5 in 16 overs things were bleak. Lacocks opening bowlers Rogers & Thompson bowled beautiful lines and had the home batsmen in all sorts of trouble. However, Bradford fought back bravely thanks to a 106 run stand between Tony Laws and Kit Chapman. Chapman being particularly aggressive, making 68 runs from just 48 balls including 6 fours and 6 sixes, many of which landed on the balcony of the nearby homes. Laws also recorded a fifty of his own, he ended 56 not out, a determined knock. Thanks to some late hitting from Chris Hotchen, 18 and Dean Bird, 10, Bradford ended on 190 all out - a good effort.
In reply the Lacock innings was built around stalwart Steve Copland who looked in fine touch. Wickets fell around him but Lacock were always up with the run rate. Tony Laws bowled a good spell of 2-35 from 12 overs and Dean Bird had 1 wicket before he was felled by a hard hit back at him and suffered a fractured thumb. Copland anchored the innings superbly to record 103 runs when he was out in the last over with Lacock still needing 6 for victory. That was delivered when Sam Thompson hit a 4 and a 6 to record a 4 wicket win.
