Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Under 13 C v Beck/RodeNSP2 on Tue 27 May 2014 at 6.00pm
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs
Match report
The U13s played their second game tonight and lost by 40 runs to a good BeckRodeNSP (BRN) side that included one of the most destructive innings I have witnessed for some time.
BRN were allowed to bat first as half their side were stuck in traffic caused by an accident on route. The BoA bowlers started well and managed to get both openers fairly cheaply. The No3 for BRN started to find the boundary regularly but the introduction of skipper Charlie to the wicket saw him hit 52 in just 12 balls!!! This was all about straight hitting which saw two cars struck on the outfield and his sporting retirement thanks to their coach. They ended on an imposing 135 off their 20 overs. Despite that onslaught all the BoA bowlers stuck to their task well. The fielding was a little rusty with a few shots going past players with little resistance offered.
In reply, BoA got off to the worst start possible with Lewis Green getting a 3rd ball duck. The star of the BoA innings was Liam Farion with an excellent 35 and he batted through most of the overs to hold the run chase together. A few cameo innings from Matt Henley and Joe Milton also brightened the evening but it simply wasn't enough to reach the target set. Other positives was the first game for Morgan Weimar and the all round performances of the 3 under 11s used tonight. Joe Milton, Alex Hoad and Lewis Watson all showed how much they've learnt over the last 12 months and proved they can cope at this higher age group.
All in all, getting better week by week...
