Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Second Eleven v White Horse on Sat 03 May 2014 at 14:00
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won by 1 run
Match report
Bradford on Avon 2's secured an incredulous victory over White Horse to get their season off with an amazing victory in an absolute thriller of a match, albeit in a rather precarious manner.
White Horse won the toss and elected to field.A procession of wickets fell at regular intervals from the top to the bottom of the batting order until batsmen 9 and 10, Lakin and Hotchen both scoring 11 edged Bradford on Avon towards what would ultimately be a defendable score of 57. Bradford on Avon responded in reducing the White Horse Innings to 3 wickets down with 4 runs on the board. Tight bowling and sharp fielding were the order of the day with batting partnerships never establishing and with continued pressure wickets fell thick and fast. A sharp piece of fielding with White Horse needing 2 to win, from Rufus Lakin secured the final wicket leaving Bradford on Avon improbable victors in what turned out to be a battle of the bowling line-ups.
