Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Won By 16 Runs

Match report Bradford on Avon won the toss and decided to bat first. Swindon Nalgo’s opening bowlers Zac Anwar & in particular Prashant Joshi 5 for 32 seemed to be asking big questions of the decision to bat as a procession of Bradford batsmen returned to the pavilion with Bradford hanging by a thread at 77 for 7 off of 22 overs at the drinks interval. True to form Matthew Harrington 50 not out proved to be the man for a crisis and elevated to opening for the day stuck to the task and dug in during a vigil of 111 balls and found a willing ally in Darren Jones 19 until the innings was closed on 140. At the interval Bradford knew that the dangerous Nalgo side would need to be bowled out to secure any chance of victory and that discipline would be the key. As events unfolded Hendy Alleyne was the first wicket to fall from an excellent piece of fielding from Richard Thomas from the boundary and from this moment the initiative was seized and with some excellent bowling from Dean Bird 4 for 29 and backed up by some good catches, the pressure proved too much for a Swindon Nalgo side low on confidence and yet to notch up a victory in the League this year. Only Awaiz Ahmed with 54 provided any resistance which was ended when bowled by Tony Laws to secure a victory for the home team by 16 runs.
