Wootton Bassett v Bradford on Avon Cricket Club First Eleven on Sat 10 Aug 2013 at 13:30
Bradford on Avon Cricket Club Lost By 144 Runs
Match report
Wootton Bassett exploited the excellent batting track to record an impressive 294-6 from their 45 overs. Sam Lawro playing the standout innings of 130 not out, a chanceless knock from a class batsman. Ably supported by the towering Roger Willoughby they plundered 106 runs from the last 10 overs of the innings to take the home side to a score which was out of reach of the Bradford on Avon batsman. Bradford's fielders stuck to their task with those stepping up from the 2s impressing in the field.
In reply Bradford's innings was built on opener Matthew Harrington's stubborn knock of 75 not out from 118 balls. However, once Tony Burrows departed for 18 (in a partnership of 64 with Harrington) batsman could not get going against the Wootton Bassett spinners, Bradford eventually settling for 4 batting bonus points with number 11 Rufus Lakin sealing this with the penultimate ball of the innings going to the boundary. Special mention to Chris Hotchen on his first team debut making a flowing 21 in a partnership of 40 with Harrington.
