Bradford on Avon Cricket Club has officially begun using its brand-new practice facility, marking a major step forward for local cricket development. While an official opening date is still to be confirmed, players are already benefiting from the high-quality training environment designed to support cricketers of all ages and abilities.
The facility was made possible through a collaborative effort with Bradford on Avon Town Council and generous support from club members and six grant-giving organisations: Wiltshire Cricket / ECB, The Hills Group Ltd & Community First (Landfill Communities Fund), Bradford on Avon Area Board, Lord Fitzmaurice Educational Foundation, Colonel William Llewellen Palmer Educational Charity, and Wiltshire County Cricket League. Their contributions have helped deliver state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure tailored to the needs of the community.
Mike Smith, Chairman of Bradford on Avon Cricket Club, shared his enthusiasm:
“This facility is a huge step forward for cricket in the town. It will provide an accessible, high-standard practice environment for local players, helping nurture talent and build the sport in the community. I would like to thank all those within the Club for their commitment to this, but special mention to Paul Vooght, our Youth Manager and our Lead on the project, who has worked tirelessly to get this over the line.”
Installed by Total-Play Ltd, the project involved extensive ground preparation and the construction of a retaining feature to accommodate the new nets beside the existing tennis courts.
